Welcome to the end of the school year! I know we have all been waiting on this moment and most of us parent want to know what's best way to spend it with your kiddos. Very important question to ask yourself first off. I was asked on my view point of watching a child. She was surprised by my input. I told her we can watch a child like we watch tv and yet not learn a thing about the child. I said but if we tune in to the child and actually engage the results are a two way street. You learn the child while the child learns you. Building a relationship and bond is the only true way to be there effectively.
Let's dive in on some of the ways you can engage with your child or family members this summer. As the energy will be plentiful let's find a way to all have fun! By the end of the summer you will be ready for school to start again.
▪︎Read bedtimes stories before bed
Reading is fun and encouraging reading is Smart. Keyword "Art" see how simple things can be a way of expressing art?
Reading helps you and the child engage and understand about life, love, and care.
Just make sure it's not a scary story lol!
▪︎Take advantage of free events weekly
Download evite or look on Facebook for local events. There are always some free ones that are kid friendly. Excessive spending is a thing of the past with inflation sticking around. Use promo codes and apps for savings and discounts.
▪︎Let them run wild at the park
Burning some energy off will not only benefit you but the child too. Peaceful nights rest and metabolism controlled! Make sure you pack some snacks and the dog if you have one. Let everyone burn off some steam. You may want to jog for extra energy and calorie burning. Kids sure can help us stay active. Do you just love it!
▪︎ Volunteer at a Summer Camp and sign the kids up
This one should be fun. If your down to be active. Join a camp to keep an eye out for your children and time to be silly with them too. They will see just how dedicated you are to being apart of their world.
▪︎Get a membership at a YMCA
I thought about being a lifeguard or a teacher for the organization. It was an interesting experience but I didn't have the transportation at the time. You also get discounts on membership if you work for the company. There are many perks! If you don't want to help out. A regular membership is not expensive. Be a kid again with your child is an example of being involved too.
▪︎Get involved in activities at church
This is another way to stay connected with the community and with God. Teach your child about the Lord. While making it fun and inspiring. Train up a child in the way they should go, when they are older they will not depart.
▪︎Go on a Vacation
It doesn't matter if you go small or big here as long as you make it momentum. Take pictures and relax enjoy the moments. Remember to laugh and be adventurous. You may even met some new people.
▪︎Visit Family Members
Let's not forget we have others to see engage with the child as well. Playtime with the cousins will give you an opportunity to wind down some. Catch up on family endeavors. Also making future plans.
▪︎Build a clubhouse
This may be over the top but you are able to get this done. Kudos to you. The benefits itself is rewarding for you. It's like having your own place and they have theirs. You can build it together and enjoy it together.
▪︎Start a business
It can be as simple as a lemon stand or tshirt business. Anything even arts and crafts. Get everyone involved in your hobbies. All while teaching the child how to make money for themselves. WIN! WIN!
I can't wait for summer because these all some of the things I plan to do with my little ones. Hope this helps you narrow down some of your ideas before school is out. Take advantage of our youtube channel for ideas too! https://youtube.com/@tyoy4617
